I"m proud of you. Here's to living with humility, integrity and simplicity.
DadWayne Pedersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05557813609213976541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32101429.post-11087641695593449282010-10-31T12:31:46.057-05:002010-10-31T12:31:46.057-05:00I wrestle with this too, especially after seeing p...I wrestle with this too, especially after seeing poverty in cities in the US, and then seeing it in India. I do second-guess some purchases and priorties, and wonder how to find a balance between living in this world while wanting to call heaven my home. I don't have any hard and fast answers -- I think it looks different for everyone. For example, a couple at our church has a really nice home, and they consistently use it to host missionaries here on leave or visiting the US. It would be easy for me to see that spacious house and think it was too much for two empty-nesters, but they are using it for God's glory . . . Thanks for this post -- it's good to know I'm not alone with these questions.
NancyPeter and Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10329947206142706470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32101429.post-31845982128177062292010-10-28T09:30:06.664-05:002010-10-28T09:30:06.664-05:00Let me clarify the doll thing as dad. Its not as if I don't want my daughter playing with dolls, but there is a difference between my son having a hand-me-down .410 shotgun or me spending $400 on a new gun for him. But I think that fits with the battle of being "americanized" and we agree on that. And I avoid places like Nordstroms like the plague because I will never fit in someplace where social standing is so important.

I'm sorry you had such an awful time there though! It stinks when you become dissilusioned by a place you used to love.S.I.F.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15037271343194689612noreply@blogger.com
